Periodontitis never looked so good! This image of human gum tissue was taken tohelp understand how the spatial organization of different cell types affect oraldiseases.New cells produced by stem cells (stained in neon green) become morespecialized as they move toward the gum surface, such as connective tissue cells(magenta) and epithelial cells (green and red). Findings suggest epithelial cellssupport the immune signaling that helps fight infection and regulate inflammation.Still, daily brushing and flossing is the best way to prevent this work of art fromblooming in your mouth.
