This image presents a live, three-dimensional view of a human blood–brain barrier model, an intricate cellular interface that shields the brain while managing the exchange of nutrients and therapeutics. This image is part of our project “Self-localized ultrafast pencil beam for volumetric multiphoton imaging”, where we discovered a novel self-organizing light phenomenon that generates an ultrafast “pencil beam” for high-speed, high-resolution 3D imaging.
