This image captures the imagination of the viewer by highlighting the beauty of marine microbes, a diverse group of organisms that have a vast impact on our climate.  More broadly, the vertical migration of algae is critical for the carbon and nutrient cycles in our oceans. Thus, our research can eventually support climate modeling and identification of climate solutions.
