The clitoris is not just a small button of nerve endings externally located above the vulva, but is part of a large, mostly internal network of nerves, vessels, and tissues. This organ has been understudied in medical research, resulting in in adequate treatment options for sexual dysfunction, especially for patients from different populations. The Edelman lab is studying a diverse group of more than 150 adults to build computational 3D maps of the clitoris to help determine how its size, shape and position differs by age, race, and demographic factors that may contribute to sexual dysfunction.
