Intestinal Organoid Induced for Differentiation

Intestinal stem cells isolated from human donors can be expanded in the lab. These cells form 3D spherical structures with an empty space in the center (called lumen) when embedded in an appropriated hydrogel (matrix) support. My work focusses on designing a synthetic hydrogel that would allow the expansion of the intestinal stem cells. This image represents a single intestinal organoid that has been induced for differentiation and thus show correct polarization.
