This image shows a snap shot of the invasive front within the mammary tumor. I wanted to characterize the expression of my protein of interest MenaINV relative to the stromal components of tumor microenvironment. The invasion specific isoform of Mena (in Green) an actin cytoskeleton regulator, is limited to the tumor cells and is absent in the cancer associated fibroblast (CAFs-marked in red by smooth muscle actin protein). The image demonstrated that while Mena is a general component of actin cytoskeleton expressed in all cells the specific isoform of it is absent in stromal cells and is enriched in tumor cells within the mammary tumor.
