"This image depicts clusters of human liver progenitor cells (iHeps) that have been generated in the laboratory by differentiating adult-derived human pluripotent cells (iPS cells). Liver cell proteins stained in green and red allow us to visualize the mature hepatocyte identity of the differentiated cells. The larger goal of this project (and others in the lab) is to establish a renewable source of functional human hepatocytes for liver research and clinical therapies."
