"This is an image of cartilage differentiated from Human Mesenchymal Stem Cells within a 3-dimensional woven PCL polymer. This image was taken to confirm positive staining for normal components of human articular cartilage. We were trying to optimize our system of stem cell differentiation to enhance chondrogenesis. Our larger goal is to one day implant these cartilage devices into humans to replace the need for total hip and knee replacement surgery."
