This image depicts a leukemia cell that is stained using immunofluorescence. The blue staining is DAPI, which intercalates DNA. The green color represents labeled replication forks. My thesis project attempts to elucidate how perturbed replication forks induce epigenetic reprogramming in leukemia. In leukemia, replication stress can lead to broad epigenetic changes and alterations in cell state. I hope to contribute to a better understanding of how this phenomenon occurs, which could eventually lead to the discovery of new therapeutic targets for blood cancers.
