Fluorescently labeled (red) mRNA–LNP successfully encapsulated within polymer–lipid microcapsules. The microcapsules are produced using a high-throughput microfluidic platform that ensures uniform particle size and nearly 100% encapsulation efficiency. We are studying how the physical and chemical properties of different encapsulating materials — such as polymer–lipid hybrids and hydrogels — affect the stability of mRNA–LNPs and their release kinetics at body temperature. The goal of this research is to create a long-acting, single-injection mRNA vaccine that eliminates the need for booster doses.
