This is an image of a cardiac organoid. It represents a small-scale model of heart tissue that was made from human stem cells. Each color represents an important part of its structure.

I’m interested in understanding heart development and injury repair, so the achievement of a robust and flexible organoid model is greatly valuable to this goal. This image confirms that we can robustly integrate fluorescent reporters to enable live study of cardiac function throughout modeled organogenesis.
