This image shows the way that cells grow on a flat surface and the connections that are made between neighboring cells. It was taken to help understand the difference between the way that cells grow on flat surfaces compared with microtextured surfaces. We found that the cells on these flat surfaces spread out much more than the cells grown on microtextured surfaces.
