Fragile X syndrome is a form of autism. This picture represents human neurons derived from Fragile X patients (green) or neurons in which the mutation responsible for Fragile X syndrome was corrected (red), growing in the mouse brain. We stained them for a marker labeling immature neurons (magenta).
We took this image to evaluate the percentage of neural precursor cells from Fragile X patients and control neural precursor cells that differentiated into immature neurons.
