This image shows neurons derived from stem cells generated from of the skin cells of autistic patients and control neurons, generated from the same stem cells where the mutation responsible for the disease was corrected using CRISPR. This project aims at studying alterations in the development of neurons from Fragile X patients growing in an in vivo context. I took this image to assess the morphological differences between neurons from autistic patients and control neurons, in order to determine whether the maturation of these neurons is perturbed.
