"I am studying various types of cytoskeletal protrusions formed by the cancer cells. Aggressive mouse mammary carcinoma cells (D2A1) were grown within a gel of extracellular matrix (Matrigel). These cells extend abundant protrusions containing actin fibers (pink). The nuclei of these cells were visualized by DAPI (blue). This image demonstrated that the D2A1 cells extend abundant actin-rich protrusions when grown within Matrigel, which may play important roles in directing the subsequent behavior of these cells."
