"I took this image to visualize the axons connecting the cortex to other structures of the nervous system. I am interested in the development of the nervous system, and axon guidance is a crucial part of this process during embryogenesis. Axons that connect individual parts of the nervous system transmit environmental stimuli to the brain, and responses from the brain to the rest of the body. Thus, their proper development is essential for the formation of a functional nervous system."
