This illustration depicts an intricate three-dimensional microenvironment, capturing diverse neuronal and non-neuronal cell types within the human cerebral cortex affected by Alzheimer’s Disease. This image offers a detailed proteomic map of the human nervous system with Alzheimer’s Disease, highlighting multiplexed features essential for understanding brain function and dysfunction, crafted from a novel tissue hydrogel technology.
A novel tissue-hydrogel processing technology termed mELAST (magnifiable Entangled Link-Augmented Stretchable Tissue-hydrogel) was used for engineering human brain tissues, multiround accelerated immunolabeling, and expansion imaging using IASLSFM (Inverted Axially-Swept Light-Sheet Fluorescence Microscopes).
