This image shows the heterogeneity of tumor cells that survive chemotherapy treatment. We were trying to see if cytoplasmic DNA or micronuclei were present in tumor cells surviving treatment with DNA-damaging chemotherapies. Indeed, micronuclei were present and some cells were multi-nucleated.  Tumor cell size, shape, and nuclear integrity change upon treatment with chemotherapy, yet these cells remain alive.
